n 2001, I started my undergraduate studies in the State University of Rio de Janeiro. Since then, I’ve come to Japan, where I wrote my MA dissertation and just finished my PhD thesis, which I will defend soon.
Ever since I began reading 16th- and 17th-century sources, one thing has become clear: there are plenty of interesting facts and trivia that never make their way into fully developed articles and texts. These tiny bits, normally exchanged between researchers chit-chatting in archives and universities, will be the focus of this blog.
The main topic of my research is the history of the Portuguese in Asia in the 16th and 17th centuries. But that does not mean I won’t venture into other fields, in a safe and – hopefully – not self-disgracing way.
While posting interesting historical facts, I will be indicating sources and archives where such information can be found. I hope this will be useful to other researchers and students.
So, please come often and enjoy some trivia on history & stuff.
